Recover Erased Files From a Digital Camera

If you accidentally erased your files from the digital camera and you want them back, you might be able to recover them. These kinds of problems can easily happen due to a glitch in the camera or to human error.

No matter what caused it, though, you should be able to get these pictures back. The reason is that the memory card dig7doesn’t actually erase these files. It simply says that they are able to be written over. They are still there, but the part of the card that holds them is now marked as ‘available.’ This is the same principle that applies when a computer hard drive is ‘erased’ but yet the data can still be recovered by someone who has used the right tools to get to it.

There are programs out there which can be used for the purpose of recovering photos. One of the most popular is Stellar photo recovery. If the pictures have been lost, reformatted, or simply deleted this program can find them. Most kinds of digital camera memory work with it, so there are few types that it cannot be used on. It scans the memory card and recovers all pictures that are available on it, but it won’t work with XD cards that have been reformatted. You’re just out of luck there. By leaving the card in the camera and hooking the camera up to a computer with this software on it, you have the highest chance of recovering your pictures.
